From: sven.clarysse@advalvas.be Date: Tue, 31 Jul 2001 03:54:58 +0200 (CEST) Subject: update on Iguana Colony To all members of the Iguana Colony, Countdown has started for HAL2001, only 10 days left until lift-off. We are counting close to 40 members and the future looks promising. Welcome all !! Here's a short status update. Payments Thanks for all who already payed. For those unpaid whose name is still in red, I urge you to make your payment as soon as possible. (before 6th Aug). We need this to help us organise everything. Tent We have 2 parts of 5 by 10m, which will be organised in a square (the rental company proposed it for technical reasons), which makes 10x10m. We have a wooden floor, tables of 2 by 1m (2 persons), chairs. Height is persons height at the sides, raising in the middle. Half the windows will be used (plastic window), the other half remains closed, keeping sun from our computer screens. We consider a 3th tent (makes 10 by 15m), so invite all your friends to join us. Setup of the tent is on tuesday already ! Organisation inside the tent will be taken care of on-site on Tuesday. Tent Placement We have place #21 on the hal camping, maps should be available soon on the hal site. We are near a road so easy accessible for the tent-builders, and there is empty space around so we can put our sleeping tents around. ... Jouw tent staat mooi 'centraal'" > ivm plaats vrijhouden, we sturen zelf een 'place holders' team :-) Neighbours The Belgian OpenBSD group (and Wim Vandeputte) is also attending HAL2001 with a large tent. Network Equipment (see http://linux.iguana.be/hal2001/stuff.php) + Switches: tfm provides a nice start but we need more, to cover the tent spatially, so you don't need 10m between your nic and a switch. + List your network equipment on the stuff page, including arrival date for convenience (contact dag@wieers.com) + UTP cable. We need wires for the uplink and to connect the switches. Anyone who can provide +/- 500m cable + connectors + equipment to build it, bring it with you. + tfm is our network guru for the tent, contact him regarding the network Decoration We want a tasteful place :-) So take that poster, mascotte, etc to enhance our Colony tent. Kangaroot provides a banner and penguins. A sound installation (with DJ) is confirmed too. Beamer and Screen We have a 2 by 2m screen and a 800x600 projector, so bring those demos and DVD movies. Transport Contact the people directly, check who attends on the same dates and from where. All the info is on the site. If it doesn't work out by the end of the week, give us an alarm and we invent something. There is a van driving to hal with ample space for equipment. Contact madman@mind.be for arrangements. HAL2001 Registration Don't forget to register for HAL2001, due 31 Jul (VISA only).
